Department of Management Studies,
Indian Institute of Science (DMSIISc), Bangalore was started in 1948 when the section of Economics and
Social Sciences was setup. The department offers exciting opportunities for
pursuing advanced research in all areas of management and public policy to
talented students with a flair for independent research. The department offers
a course based Master of Management (M. Mgmt) program and two research degrees,
namely Ph. D. and M.Sc. (Engg).
The Master of Management is a 24
month program that enable graduate engineers to grow into competent and
creative managers of technology intensive and data driven organizations
encourage entrepreneurship for high technology start-up seek to attract and
foster doctoral students in management. The research program in the department
trains the students to become independent researchers.

of Business Administration (MBA):
M.B.A. - Stands for Master of
Business Administration. Typically, an MBA is a two year postgraduate degree,
eligibility for which is an undergraduate degree in business management or
business administration. Subjects usually studied under this degree are Basics
of Management, Statistics, Quantitative Techniques, Financial & Cost
Accounting, Managerial Economics, Organizational Behavior, Marketing
Management, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing
Research, Industrial Relations, Consumer Behaviour, International Business ,
Software Solutions for Business, Relationship Marketing, Corporate Finance etc.
